hey there is no hurt in trying to be a runner or even faking it ! Running may seem scary but it can be easy. You do not need to run a marathon you just need to keep your heart rate up to start. Running a great cardiovascular exercise that works the whole body especially your core.it is recommended to get 150 minutes a week of exercise.
Now- how to be a runner. The best way to start becoming a runner is 1. walking then 2. Sprinting. Make sure you take a stretch before walking and running to avoid shin splints etc. try starting with a brisk walk- a warmup of 10-15 minutes. Try to add intervals of sprint in between the walk. So try:
1 minute walk
30 seconds sprint
1 minute walk
45 second sprint
1 minute walk
1 minute sprint
1 min walk
1:30 sec sprint
get the point? Try increasing each sprint rep by 15-30 seconds. Till you have done all the rounds in 30 minutes. Each week try to up the sprint intervals times and decrease the walking interval times.
These short bursts of sprints increases your maximal oxygen consuming - basically-increasing your lungs capacity to grab all that air for increased workout intensity- increasing your cardio endurance-and boom you can run longer distance without stopping. Start the regimen 4-6 weeks and track your progress.
